Friendship Ball benefits the Mississippi Learning Institute

MLI new logo(JACKSON, Miss) – The Friendship Ball, sponsored by the Jackson 2000, will benefit the Mississippi Learning Institute at Jackson State University. The fundraising event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Hal and Mal’s on Commerce Street in Jackson, and includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

The Friendship Ball is an annual event that brings together Jackson’s community in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Every year, Jackson 2000 awards organizations with the proceeds raised from the ball’s ticket sales.

MLI is an innovative collaboration among Jackson State University, the Jackson Public School District, the Mississippi State Department of Education, the Barksdale Reading Institute and the America Reads Mississippi-AmeriCorps Program.

MLI has received 100 tickets, which potentially could bring another $2,000 above and beyond the grant amount. Tickets are $20 for individuals, and $10 for students with ID.
