Althea Allen is Jackson State University’s new transportation manager.

A native of Michigan City, Ind., she has worked the past 18 years for the city in its Central Maintenance Department handling the city’s office operations, according to Jamie Joiner, program and communication coordinator, JSU Department of Facilities and Construction Management.
As transportation manager, Allen oversees the day-to-day operations of JSU’s Transportation Mobility Center which provides shuttle services for JSU students, vehicle and bus rentals, as well as vehicle leases.
“I’m real excited,” Allen said about her new job. She started in January and has been busy with coordinating sports transportation. Coming up is one of the department’s biggest challenges, coordinating shuttle service for Commencement, May 2.
That, along with football season, are the biggest challenges, she said.
Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at Purdue University, with a minor in organizational leadership.
