student to serve as a marketing intern.

The 20-year-old, a native of Jackson, Miss is among several students at HBCUs across the United States selected to serve as ambassadors for their universities.

She will act as a liaison between Jackson State University and the national magazine. The goal of the program is to encourage students to read the publication “so that one day they may be in it,” Lewis said.

“I am looking forward to creating on-campus rallies and activities with students and organization to be active with Black Enterprise,” she said.

Lewis, whose concentration is integrated marketing communications, expects great things to come from this experience. She was selected in October and will intern with the magazine until at least May 2012.

“This opportunity not only welcomes me to marketing in the real world, but it helps me to network with students and staff on campus,” she said.

Lewis is a campus leader who holds two presidential offices: the class of 2013 and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She also is an active member of Tiger Pride Connection.

Black Enterprise, founded in 1970 by Earl G. Graves Sr., is a monthly magazine and “the premier business, investing, and wealth-building resource for African-Americans,” according to its website.
