Only 5% of biz schools world-wide receive this distinction
Business schools accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) are among the best in the world. The Jackson State University College of Business (COB), under the leadership of Dean Ramin Maysami, has earned this highly coveted distinction.
“I would like to congratulate Dean Maysami and the faculty, staff and students in the College of Business for continuing this hallmark of excellence — accreditation by AACSB International,” said Dr. Evelyn Leggette, provost and senior vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Jackson State.
AACSB accreditation is known worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional qualification an institution and its business programs can earn. Post-secondary institutions are granted this honor in acknowledgement of ongoing excellence and continuous improvement throughout their business programs.
Maysami said, “The achievement was made possible with dedicated contribution from faculty and staff and through strong support from internal and external stakeholders, all of whom met with the AACSB visiting team — the president and provost, vice presidents, deans of other colleges and divisions, leaders of support units such as IT and the library, and of course the business and local communities, represented by the College of Business Advisory Boards. I would like to thank all of our stakeholders and say that I continue to count on your support as we remain on course for the next AACSB visit in 2021.”
Reaffirmation of AACSB accreditation includes all business programs at JSU’s College of Business, bachelor, masters and doctoral level degrees. For more info, click here to watch a short AACSB video.
College of Business also accredited by NIBS
“The College of Business also received initial accreditations by the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS) in late 2016, attesting to the international content of the business curriculum and the College’s vision to produce globally aware graduates,” Maysami said.
“Together with accreditation by the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS), this puts College of Business in a strong position to attract talented faculty and students to JSU, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. We are indeed among the elite institutions with AACSB accredited business colleges. This accomplishment continues the high standards of excellence in academics at Jackson State University,” Leggette said.
