College of Education and Human Development to host Leadership Institute

The College of Education and Human Development will host its 2013 Summer Leadership Institute for Teachers and Administrators on the campus of Jackson State University.

The institute, geared toward K-12 teachers, administrators, and college professors features three full days of sessions that will be led by state and national professionals. Participants will receive professional expertise, opportunities, and training for educators that will increase their ability to put the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) into practice and establish effective norms of practice in classrooms.

Model classrooms with centers using standards required by the Common Core will be set up so that teachers will have a visual knowledge that they can replicate. These model classrooms also will be aligned with the Mississippi curriculum that teachers must follow.

Dr. Cheryl McBride Brown, founder of a school, and known for excellence in the field of education, will be the keynote motivational speaker .

The cost of pre-registration is $300 and is due by May 28. On-site registration is $500.

Participants will receive instructional material, including a USB drive with conference material.
