The sessions will be at the JSU Student Center, Senate Chambers from noon to 1:30 p.m. and from 3-4:30 p.m. Faculty must register to attend the sessions. Lunch or refreshments will be served.

Forbes magazine called it one of the 12 companies transforming education to watch this year.

“I am really excited about the Flashnotes.com partnership because this professor-led and student-empowered platform has the potential to transform student success, that effects retention and graduation,” said Dr. Loria Brown Gordon, associate dean of the Honors College.

“The informational sessions on Thursday for our faculty will be another opportunity for them further enhance JSU’s commitment to continue the use of cutting edge technology in our courses,” she said.

Flashnotes is an online student-to-student marketplace for class study material. But it also has other benefits.

The platform enables JSU to:

— Improve student retention

— Provide an additional academic resource for all students open 24 hours a day 7 days per week

— Provide notes for students with a registered disability at no cost

— Reward honor college members for their hard work, while at the same time enabling them to do community service

— Prepare students for workforce readiness by helping them develop their resumes

Honors College students who are dean’s list or higher will have first choice in their classes to create notes, study guides, flashcards, etc. that can be accessed by all students, Gordon said.
