Dr. SherRhonda Gibbs has been appointed as the next dean for the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado.
“I’m so excited to develop programs and initiatives that will equip students with the skillsets employers desire,” says Gibbs. I am also eager to assist them with preparation for successful careers in the real world.”
She continued, “My immediate goals are to improve student success, retention and recruiting, provide faculty development opportunities, and investigate employer and community needs to ensure that business programs are responsive to the needs of industry and the community.”
She is an entrepreneur whose academic experience includes serving on the faculty at Jackson State University, where she spearheaded several entrepreneurship initiatives. She has also held professional positions with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and at IBM Corporation.
Gibbs currently serves as the interim director for the School of Management, which is the largest area within the College of Business at the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to this role, she holds the Alvin Williams Endowed Chair of Minority Entrepreneurship.
“My academic and professional background is in software engineering and entrepreneurship. I plan to draw heavily from these areas to focus on innovation and delivering high quality, immersive programs in entrepreneurship and analytics differentiating the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business–making it a prime destination for students seeking business degrees.”
Her research focuses on entrepreneurship related to recognizing opportunities, social psychological perspectives, and black and underrepresented minorities.
Gibbs has a Ph.D. in business administration, with a concentration in management from Jackson State University.
