Dean Glenda Baskin Glover named Tennessee State University’s eighth president

UPDATE: Glenda Glover, Jackson State University College of Business dean, was unanimously chosen to serve as president of Tennessee State University on Nov. 27.

(JACKSON, Miss.) – Jackson State University congratulates College of Business Dean Glenda Baskin Glover on being recommended to serve as president of Tennessee State University.

“Dr. Glover has been an invaluable asset to Jackson State University, not only exemplifying excellence in her field, but inspiring that same excellence in our students, faculty and staff,” said Jackson State University President Carolyn W. Meyers. “Tennessee State University will be fortunate to have her at its helm.”

As a certified public accountant, attorney and professor, Glover’s background served Jackson State University well. Highlights of her 18 years at Jackson State include obtaining the university’s first endowed chair, leading a successful $5 million fundraising initiative, spearheading the implementation of online learning programs, developing a cost reduction plan and implementing internal fiscal accountability measures.

A 1974 Tennessee State University alumna, Glover holds a bachelor’s degree in math, a master’s degree in business administration from Clark Atlanta University, a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and a doctorate from George Washington University in business economics and policy.
