(Jackson, MS) — Jackson State University’s Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages will host the 12th Annual “Mississippi Foreign Language Fair” on Friday, April 4, in the Dollye M.E. Robinson Liberal Arts Building from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Each year, about 400 students from high school and middle school in the Jackson metro area and central Mississippi attend the fair and are tested on their language skills. The event promotes the study of foreign languages, cultural awareness, artistic skills and creativity.
Students are tested at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of language proficiency in Chinese, French, German and Spanish. They also participate and compete in projects, singing and dancing. Trophies, medals and ribbons are awarded.
