(Jackson, Miss.)Jackson State University proudly announces that Bobbie Daniels, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance & Entrepreneurship, has been selected as the 2026 Outstanding Educator by the Mississippi Society of CPAs (MSCPA).

“It is truly an honor for me to be recognized by the Mississippi Society of CPAs. The most fulfilling parts of my career have been mentoring and teaching students,” said Daniels. “This accolade is shared with my mentors, coworkers, and students who have helped and encouraged me along the way.”

The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes a full-time accounting professor who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to students, their institution, and the accounting profession. Daniels will be formally honored at the MSCPA Annual Convention in Destin, Florida, in June 2026.

Daniels has served Jackson State University for more than 26 years and is widely recognized for excellence in teaching, curriculum leadership and student mentorship. She has received multiple teaching and advising awards.

“I am truly honored to work alongside Dr. Daniels. This recognition affirms her outstanding leadership, passion for the accounting profession, and dedication to preparing our students for success in the classroom and the profession,” said Nicholas Hill, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business.

In addition to her instructional achievements, Daniels has played a key role in advancing academic programs within the College of Business, including leading significant curriculum enhancements and supporting initiatives that strengthen the accounting pipeline. Her leadership has helped expand opportunities for students while aligning academic programs with the evolving needs of the accounting profession.

“Dr. Daniels prepared me not only for the CPA exam, but for leadership in the profession. From undergraduate coursework to graduate advising, her mentorship laid the foundation for my career in public accounting,” Kevin Wilkerson, CPA tax managing director for  Deloitte Tax LLP in Houston and 2009 JSU graduate.

Former and current students consistently credit Daniels for her lasting impact on their academic and professional success. She is known for her ability to present complex accounting concepts in a clear, engaging, and student-centered manner.

“As a first-generation college student, I didn’t always know what opportunities were possible. Dr. Daniels helped me find my voice, step into leadership roles, and believe I could pursue a master’s degree and the CPA,”  said Rayvan Green, a fall 2025 JSU MBA graduate.
