Jacksonians donate to United Way of the Capital Area

Members of the Jackson State University’s faculty and staff donated $11,383 to the United Way of the Capital Area during a one-month campaign held in October 2012. JSU reached its goal in exceeding the $10,000 that was contributed in the 2011 multi-month campaign.

The departments with the highest percentage of participation were Undergraduate Studies, with 94 percent, and the College of Liberal Arts, with 85 percent. The staff members who coordinated the giving campaigns for the highest-participating departments will receive a special recognition award. They include Priscilla Edwards in Undergraduate Studies, and Pearl Beck, La’Tonia Harper and Dorothy Huddleston in the College of Liberal Arts.

United Way of the Capital Area is a local nonprofit that focuses resources on the most critical human care needs in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties. The organization partners with businesses, individuals, government and other nonprofits to monitor the needs of the community and respond as issues or opportunities arise.
