The Jackson State University National Alumni Association, Inc. (JSUNAA) is gearing up for a weekend of events as part of its
Mid-Winter Conference starting Friday.

Inc., Mid-Winter Conference luncheon speaker on Saturday, Feb. 28,
2015, is state Rep. Angela Cockerham (District 96).
The board of directors will meet Friday afternoon at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown, 235 West Capitol St., Jackson, with reports from executive officers and committee chairs, according to Yolanda R. Owens, president.
“On Saturday, we will hold the Alumni Council meeting at the JSU Student Center, which will include all of our national officers as well as chapter presidents from all six regions,” Owens said. Of special note should be presentations from university leadership as well as representatives from the Tom Joyner Foundation.
The Tom Joyner Foundation has been helping to raise funds for student scholars at JSU. As a partner with the Tom Joyner Foundation Schools of the Month, JSU has been promoted on the Tom Joyner Morning Show during the month of February.
A progressive party to raise funds is tentatively set for 7 p.m. Friday. Called Old School Party with a Purpose, the schedule includes: 6 p.m. wine reception, a hot dog special, and desert and coffee. (For more information, call: 601-979-6944.)
