Jackson State University Interim Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Dr. Thomas Calhoun has won The Mid-South Sociological Association’s Distinguished Career Award.

Calhoun, a sociology professor, was selected for the honor because of his “tireless dedication to teaching,” said MSSA President Dr. Timothy B. Gongaware.
The award will be presented Nov. 7, 2014, at the 2014 MSSA Conference in Mobile, Ala.
Gongaware praised Calhoun for “your commitment to sociological research, and your willingness to serve your discipline, your institutions, and this organization,” which, he said, are efforts that “have not gone unnoticed.”
