Jackson State University welcomed a delegation on Nov. 7 from Yangzhou University (YZU) in China to “deepen and widen” the JSU-YZU collaboration.
YZU leaders, led by Vice President Bosen Ye, met Dr. Thomas Calhoun, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at JSU, and other JSU constituents. Among the YZU party included deans Xinzhong Wu, College of Social Sciences, and Xinchi Wang, College of Touring and Culinary Sciences; and directors Dr. Xinhua Zhang, Student Affairs and Dr. Xiaoyang Xue, Editorial Department of Journal.
The meeting proved to be successful and promising as three areas for further collaborations were outlined: student training and exchange, faculty exchange and research collaborations.
Jackson State University deans Dr. Richard Alo, College of Science, Engineering and Technology; Dr. Jean-Claude Assad, College of Business; Dr. Evelyn J. Leggette, Division of Undergraduate Studies; Dr. Lawrence T. Potter Jr., College of Liberal Arts; and Dr. Daniel Watkins, College of Education and Human Development, joined Calhoun in laying the framework for future collaboration with YZU. Dr. James Renick, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, also joined the group for a reception and luncheon.
During the previous two summers, JSU’s College of Liberal Arts and College of Education and Human Development jointly hosted two groups of scholars from Yangzhou University for professional training and internships. Students from Yangzhou University are also considering JSU for furthering their studies and training.
Bravo! JSU is such a wonderful place where we Chinese students feel warmly welcomed.
