Jackson State University faculty might want to check their email extra carefully this week. They can expect a survey asking them what type of new computer they would like.
They will have their choice from among five options, according to Dr. Deborah F. Dent, vice president of Information Technology and chief information officer.
The survey will determine the types of computers the university purchases, she said.
Once the surveys are returned, after about two weeks, the computers will be bought and installed.
About 400 new computers will be purchased, Dent said. Faculty members will have options that include Apple iMacs, standard PCs, and laptops in various configurations.
The decision to include faculty input was at the suggestion of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. James C. Renick. He saw it as “using technology to invest in our faculty,” Dent said.
