Jackson State University, the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and WLBT 3 will host a Jackson Mayoral Debate from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium on the JSU campus. The debate will be aired live on WLBT and streamed on MSNewsNOW.com.
The entire campus community is encouraged to attend. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Because the event will be broadcast live, doors will close promptly at 6:45 p.m.
Participating candidates include Jackson City Council member Margaret Barrett-Simon, Mississippi State Sen. John Horhn, Harvey Johnson Jr., Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Jackson City Council member Melvin Priester Jr., Regina Quinn and Jackson City Council member Tony Yarber.
WLBT news anchor Maggie Wade will moderate the debate. Debate questions will be posed by three panelists: JSU political science professor B. D’Andra Orey, Mississippi Business Journal editor Ross Riley and WLBT news anchor Howard Ballou.
The election will be held April 8.
