JSU President Meyers announces university realignment

1.21.11CampusGatewayEntrance1(JACKSON, Miss.) – After a thorough review of Jackson State University’s operations and the resignation of Vice President of Student Life Dr. Marcus Chanay, President Carolyn W. Meyers has announced a realignment of two university divisions.

Effective today, the departments within the Division of Student Life will be joining the Division of Academic Affairs. This new unit is being named the Division of Academic and Student Affairs.

The current Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs James C. Renick will lead this expanded division.

“This new structure will enable us to expand and deepen the quality of the formal and informal learning experiences for all of our students,” Meyers said.  “Academics is our core business. This realignment will help students matriculate successfully through Jackson State while they experience the richness of university life.”

“We are grateful to Dr. Chanay for his dedicated service,” Meyers said.
