Janice Brockley, Ph.D., professor in the Department of History and Philosophy, left, and Kristie Lipford, Ph.D., School of Social Work, discuss research they will be conducting this year as Academy Scholars in the Academy of Research and Scholarly Engagement.
They were among 25 scholars inducted into Academy on Friday at the JSU INNOVATE Center at H.T. Sampson Library.
Initiated in 2012, the Academy seeks to broaden the community of faculty members who submit proposals as principal investigators and who receive funding for their research and scholarly agendas. It does so through an intensive year-long series of activities including workshops, mentoring and engagement with foundations and federal agencies.
The University Scholars program nurtures and encourages the research productivity of junior faculty members by supporting research leading to peer-reviewed publication and supplementing that grant with workshops designed to help them to develop, implement and fund their research agendas.
