JSU addresses obesity in Mississippi during annual health disparities conference

With national attention on escalating health disparities and chronic disease – especially obesity in the state of Mississippi – Jackson State University focused on healthy eating as a lifestyle during its 13th annual “Eliminating Health Disparities” conference Oct. 24-25 at the Jackson Convention Complex.

JSU_0078The event, themed “Translating the Science of Obesity to a Healthy You,”  was presented by the Center of Excellence in Minority Health, Institute of Epidemiology and Health Services Research at Jackson State University’s School of Health Sciences. Co-sponsors included the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Civil Rights, Region IV; the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities; and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
