Jackson State University’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Thomas C. Calhoun, recently accepted an invitation to serve on the editorial board for Journal of Mass Communication, Delinquency, and Criminology.

The publication is an open access, peer-reviewed international journal that publishes original research articles on the cross-disciplinary relationship between crime, delinquency, mass communication and society. It is a key vehicle for the scholars who specialized in these areas.
As an editorial board member, Calhoun is expected to encourage authors to submit manuscripts for publication. He is also expected to contribute to the quality of the journal, as well as make suggestions about its contents and appearance.
Calhoun is a professor of sociology and formerly served as interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts at JSU. He has held previous positions at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has published more that 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
I can personally say my encounters with such a prestigious individual/ professor/mentor has given me the knowledge of the causes and effects of the social institutions needed in our everyday functions of society. Dr. Calhoun deserves this accolade and more for his dedication to our society. May God Continue to bless him in his endeavors and the love he has for students and Jackson State University.
Thank you,
