Jackson State’s speedy wide receiver Rico Richardson tweeted that he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs shortly after the conclusion of the NFL draft. Richardson had one of the best seasons ever recorded by a JSU Tiger pass catcher. His 1,153 receving yards is fifth on the JSU all-time receiving list, behind JSU greats like Willie Richardson (no relation). Rico also hauled in 11 touchdown receptions. Rico was the go-to guy for JSU quarterbacks during the 2012 season. He was named the 2012 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year.

For his career at Jackson State he caught 144 passes for 2678 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also returned 26 punts for 214 yards and two TDs. Rico also recorded his first career INT at JSU last season and returned it seven yards.
