“JSUNAA CAC is working hard at doing as the JSU motto states: ‘Challenging Minds and Changing Lives.’ We are reaching out, paving the way for our future and paying forward the experiences and opportunities that JSU has already given to us,” said Brendolyn Hart-Glover, the newly elected chapter president.
The funds distributed are raised during the chapter’s annual “For The Love of Blue Jazz and Blues Scholarship Banquet.” Scholarship chair Starla Adams (Class of 1999) said she considers the planning and management of the scholarship application and awards process a labor of love. As well, she says, it is her way of paying it forward for the support she received while attending Jackson State University.
The reception included remarks from midwest regional vice president Annette Johnson and Angela Walker, immediate past president, who shared with parents, students and alumni the close network of supporters available to them.
Meanwhile, Hart-Glover congratulated parents and students for choosing JSU and said the institution is committed to their well-being. She and recent JSU graduates Jorri Duncan (2010), Amber Cotton (2013) and Stacy Hopkins (2015) urged freshmen to take advantage of Welcome Week by locating their classes and meeting with instructors. Also, she urged them to remain focused and enjoy the JSU Experience.
