JSUTV celebrates Black Music Month

DirectLineJune is Black Music Month, and you viewers are invited to join JSUTV as the network recognizes the innovative and exciting musical contributions of African-Americans.

Tune in to “DirectLine” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, for a discussion on Mississippi Music Day that resulted from a resolution passed recently by the legislature. Guests will include Ferdinand McAfee, K.D. Brosia and Akami Graham. Jazz on the PlazaThe episode will also feature a discussion on the South Carolina tragedy with Derrick Johnson, the president of the Mississippi NAACP. There will be an encore presentation at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28.

JSUTV presents “Jazz on the Plaza 2015”
Tune in for JSUTV presents “Jazz on the Plaza” 2015 at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25. The concert, held this year on the Gibbs-Green Pedestrian Walkway at Jackson State University, will feature the department’s performance groups, including Jazz Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, as well as guest artists.

The special will air at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, with an encore presentation at noon Sunday, June 28.
