Miss Jackson State University 2012-2013, Sarah Brown, is requesting volunteers for her upcoming initiative, Tiger Make-A-Difference Day, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 1. Brown has arranged for volunteers to participate in one of three community service projects that will happen simultaneously.
“This event will present an opportunity for alumni, students and community members to show unity by serving at different community service projects in the area,” Brown said. “It also really illustrates President Carolyn Meyers’ theme of One Jackson State University.”
From 10 a.m to noon, volunteers will be able to participate in community service projects at the Stewpot Community Center, located at 1100 W. Capitol St. in Jackson; Pleasant Hills Nursing Home, located at 1600 Raymond Rd. in Jackson;
or on the JSU campus for the Campus Clean Up project. The event will begin with a 9 a.m. ribbon cutting on the Gibbs-Green Pedestrian Walkway. Afterwards, volunteers will be transported to their destinations.
Jackson State students who participate will receive double credit for community service hours volunteered during this project.Those who are interested should contact Sarah Brown at 601-979-2816 or MissJSU2013@jsums.edu.

I’m not trying to make an excuse, but the Christmas Parade will start @ 12:00 noon, therefore many or some people may not have the time to participate. Really wish that I could, time does not permit.

Let’s get out there and think BIG with Sarah Brown guys!! Hope to see a great turnout for this!
I think this will be an awesome opportunity to embrace the hospitality and giving spirit that the citizens of our great city of Jackson exemplify. It also serves as verification of the “unity through deeds” approach that Jackson State always focuses on through its community engaged learning partners. Good Job Miss Jackson State!
Good Job!!!!! Miss Jackson State keep it up.
