Jackson State University is saddened to announce the death of legendary football coach, Bob Hill, 81, who passed away on Tuesday, May 17.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, at First New Hope Baptist Church, 348 Harvey St., Grenada, Miss. 38901. Former JSU players are asked to wear navy and white.
Hill achieved a 74 percent winning record during his tenure as head coach from 1971-1976. He coached a host of Tiger greats including Walter Payton, Eddie Payton, Jackie Slater and Robert Brazile. Hill was also the first Tiger to sign an NFL contract when he was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1956.
