Two older daughters were reported away at college in Michigan at the time of the fire.

Visitation for the Parkers is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Swanson Funeral Home, 14751 W. McNichols St. in Detroit.

A family hour is set to precede the funeral Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. Seven Mile, Detroit, with funeral to follow, and internment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Freddye Golden Parker, originally from Hazlehurst, and James “Randy” Parker attended JSU in the late 1980s and early 1990s, according to friends and alumni.

The Parkers were coaches with the Motor City All Stars, a youth football team affiliated with the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL). The league has opened a memorial fund to assist the family with burial costs: https://www.gofundme.com/parkerfamily
