The St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), the economic development arm for the city of St. Louis, has announced the appointment of Jackson State University alum Daffney Moore as chief of staff/director of Equity and Inclusion. Moore will be the strategic adviser and counsel to the executive director, Neal Richardson.
In her role, she will oversee strategic business initiatives from development through completion to advance the St. Louis Equitable Economic Development Strategy – the framework for equitable growth and prosperity for St. Louis.
Moore will also serve as a subject-matter expert, handling inquiries and leading the development of the Economic Justice Action Plan. Also, she’ll assist with messaging, leading equity and inclusion efforts, and continuing her work in Opportunity Zone areas.
Moore has previous experience at SLDC. She worked as the chief opportunity zone officer, a role in which she created an ecosystem to facilitate collaboration, increased economic and social impact investment and strengthened the capacity of organizations to support growth and sustainability in St. Louis.
She worked with the city on St. Louis: A New Urban Champion; Arlington Grove; North Sarah development projects; Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities; and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard redevelopment. Moore also aided the Lansdowne Initiative and Our Town grant in East St. Louis.
Moore is a Ph.D. candidate at Walden University. She is majoring in public policy with a concentration on local government management for sustainable communities. She holds a master’s degree from JSU in Urban and Regional Planning and a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University in Organizational Communications.
She is a native of East St. Louis, Illinois, and serves as an associate fellow in Urban Governance for APA, Crisis Nursery Advisory Board, Murray State University Governor’s Board, and Moore is president of the Black Alumni Network at Murray State University.
