The International Visitors Center of Jackson welcomed Shanique Streete, senior program specialist at the International Institute of the Graduate School USA, to the campus of Jackson State University Thursday, Sept. 12.
Streete’s visit included a meeting with Thomas Calhoun, associate provost of Academic Affairs and other university officials to discuss potential collaboration opportunities.
As a programming agency under the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the United States Department of State, the International Institute of the Graduate School provides short-term global programs for international visitors and emerging foreign leaders while cultivating lasting relationships with their American counterparts in the areas of capacity building, professional development, educational exchanges, governance and health.
Streete develops and implements various IVLP projects on a variety of topics including small business development, entrepreneurship, U.S. Trade Policy and NGO Management. She also volunteers in organizations including Jola House, a Liberia-based social enterprise that provides income opportunities for women in Monrovia and The Bridges Institute, an Africa-focused international affairs organization. She has worked as a legislative analyst and staff assistant with Women’s Policy, Inc., a Congressional Hunger Fellow and a U.S. department of State intern. She holds a M.A. in African Studies from UCLA and B.A. from Tufts University.
