The Prancing J-Settes will host spring tryouts April 1-3 in the Athletic and Assembly Center at Jackson State University.
Participants are expected to perform original dance routines as required and bring their own music.
The group is under the direction of Chloe Ashley Crowley, who said spectators will see young women going through the various components of the audition processes: stage presence, individual dance, agility test and a group dance.

Crowley said, “Becoming a J-Sette is not only about being a dancer or belonging to a dance team, it is an opportunity to be an ambassador for JSU through scholarship, leadership and performance.”
Also, she said performers must bring their own music, which should be from 45 seconds to one-minute long. The presentation must be free of profane, obscene or suggestive language or gestures.
Crowley said attire will be provided for stage presence but that contestants must bring toast tights.
An auxiliary of the JSU Marching Band, the J-Settes was established during the early 1970s as an organization of members embodying “poise, grace and talent.”
Attendance to J-Settes tryouts is FREE to the public.
