On the last night of Homecoming week, Jackson State University presented its Basketball Madness – an annual event ushering in the start of the new roundball season for men’s and women’s teams.
Senior center and forward Treshawn Bolden from Jackson, Mississippi, spoke about his teammates’ expectations for this season.
“We are ready, and I’m not sure how we will start off our season this year. We have some old players and a lot of new faces on the team. My desire is to help build chemistry. I will not be in the first home game, but I will be back this December.”
Both coaches expressed optimism for this year’s season. Head Coaches Wayne Brent and Surina Dixon said the teams have been preparing for this moment and expect great results.
Meanwhile, fans swarmed the tables to collect autographs of the players.
Also, during the event there was a dance contest with fans as well as a three-point contest between the women’s and men’s squads. In addition, there was a slam-dunk competition among the men.
