Homecoming week started out with a bang as a Campus Ministries Hotspot on the Gibbs-Green Plaza excited students by getting them in the spirit.
“It helped kick off the week for homecoming; we kind of set the tone,” said the Rev. Maxine Bolden, director of Campus Ministries for the Wesley Foundation at Jackson State University. “The turnout was great, and the students had a great time. They really enjoyed the music.”
Bolden said this event served as a great way for the ministry to become more involved with the student body.
Furthermore, she said, motivating the students while promoting school spirit was the ultimate goal. “We wanted to do something that was positive and uplifting. We really want the students to enjoy Homecoming.”
Finally, she said, events sponsored by the Campus Ministries next semester will also aim to help strengthen outreach efforts as the organization attempts to minister to students at JSU.
