The National Science Foundation awarded a $349,000 grant to Jackson State University in support of the Broadening Participation Research Project: Collaborative Learning in Authentic STEM Education Settings. The project is a collaborative effort between the College of Education and Human Development and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology.
Under the direction of Jianjun Yin, Wei Zheng, Sungnbum Hong, Zhenbu Zhang, and Kenneth T. Milliken, the project will investigate the effects of scaffolding online collaborative learning in STEM educational settings for African-American college students.
This is the second major granting collaborative effort between faculty in CSET and the College of Education. The previous project garnered $500,000 from NSF. It was entitled Investigation of Effects of Scaffolding Creative Problem Solving through Question Prompts in Project-Based Service Learning.
