In an ongoing effort to remind students that there is a dress code on campus, the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology at Jackson State University implemented a departmental “Professional Day” during the spring 2014 semester.

The department selected every Wednesday during the semester as its “Professional Day” and asked students to come to class in professional dress.
Professor Mark Anthony also asked faculty members to encourage participation by offering extra credit points.
When Anthony took his class to a career day event in the Student Center, the students were excited by the compliments they received from other students and the exhibitors. After that event, students began to look forward to Wednesdays and “dressing-up.”
Various classes in the department wanted to share their professional look with Anthony so they coordinated a group picture in the spirit of One JSU. The project will continue in the fall.
Shamarcus Steven (first person on left, second row) was named Best Dressed Male in criminal justice for spring 2014.
Eriell Dodson (pictured in center of group with white shirt and long hair past her shoulders) was named Best Dressed Female in criminal justice for spring 2014.
