Do you need a mentor? Want to know how college students land dream jobs that pay big bucks before graduation? Learn how to live your brand 24-7 and build meaningful networks with the Building Your Digital Brand Enrichment Program at Jackson State University.

JSU students can apply for one of 35 seats. W.E.B. Du Bois Honors College students are eligible to receive honors credits for the program. Students accepted into the 10-week program will connect with accomplished mentors and personalities, compete for cash prizes and create a video résumé.

The deadline to apply for the program is Wednesday, Jan. 13. Students will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Jan. 20 until March 30 (excluding Spring Break).

“We are excited to have W.E.B Du Bois Honors College graduates, including CEOs, serve as mentors,” said Dr. Robert Blaine, dean of JSU’s Undergraduate Studies and CyberLearning. “The program will help students navigate common pitfalls, pinpoint their passion and use the right social media skills.”

Students will also learn to customize their wardrobes, apply flawless makeup, and learn the do’s and don’ts of effective communications. The program’s lead facilitators are Dr. Kenneth Russ, a JSU assistant professor of marketing and director of the MBA program, and Emmy award-winning journalist Kathy Y. Times, former president of the National Association of Black Journalists. Russ is the former CEO of Community Coffee Company.

Russ and Times wrote an e-book: “How To Wow One or 1,000: For College Students.” The book includes videos and interviews of millenials who established their brands in the record industry and technology while they were still in college.
