Honorary doctorate for ‘dedicated’ Jackson State University chemistry professor

Jackson State University chemistry professor and presidential fellow Dr. Jerzy Leszcynski, is the recipient of an honorary doctorate – Doctor Honoris Cause from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

“From time to time, creative, dedicated scholars perform at levels and scopes that distinguish them from their peers. Professor Leszczynski is one such scholar,” said Dr. Abdul Mohammed, dean emeritus of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology.

Mohammed praises the professor’s documented scholarly contributions for transforming and enriching the international scientific community. The dean believes Leszcysnki’s “unparalleled achievements” are a result of the honoree’s unique personal commitment, drive to make a difference, remarkable energy, work ethics and a combination of humility and respect for all.

Recipient of a number of national and international awards, a summary of Professor Leszczynsk’s contributions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Editor (with Manoj Shukla) of a book series: “Practical Aspect of Computational Chemistry.” Springer
  • Editor-in-chief of several international scientific journals
  • Founding director of the Computational Center for Molecular Structure and Interaction (Focus on Nanotoxicity)
  • Member of several scientific journal editorial boards
  • Organizer, since 1992, of the Annual International Conference on Current Trends in Computational Chemistry
