Jackson, MS — Jackson State University Provost Alisa L. Mosley, Ph.D. has been selected to join the new class of 22 outstanding provosts (chief academic officers) who will participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ (AASCU) 2021–22 cohort of the Student Success Institute (SSI) for Provosts, a leadership development program tailored to the distinctive needs of experienced provosts.
“The Jackson State University community salutes Dr. Alisa Mosley upon her appointment to the AASCU’s Student Success Institute for Provosts,” said President Thomas K. Hudson, J.D. “This fellowship is a testament to the passion and dedication she gives in support of our students, faculty and staff.”
As a part of its ongoing commitment to student success, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) launched the Student Success Institute (SSI) for Provosts in September 2020. SSI supports provosts at AASCU member institutions with at least one year of experience in the role to more effectively lead and implement the type of transformational change necessary to meet the evolving needs of today’s increasingly diverse student body. The program is supported by a $1.6 million grant from Ascendium Education Group.

Institutions represented by the 2021-22 cohort include:
• 9 Minority-serving institutions
• 23%–70% Pell eligible
• A diverse range of campus settings, from small rural to large urban institutions
Including the inaugural “Design Cohort,” SSI includes 41 provosts, all from AASCU member institutions, across 24 states and the Bahamas, that collectively enroll nearly 300,000 students.

SSI will provide the most current and relevant expertise on promising practices in student success, leadership, data and assessment, teaching and learning, and equity. Throughout the seven-month, hybrid program, fellows will have the opportunity to build a strong and supportive network of peers, learn from leading experts in the field, and develop critical skills for facilitating change on their campuses.
