Jackson State University Defensive End Javancy Jones has been selected as the College Sports Madness Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Texas Southern. This is the third time this season that Jones has received this recognition from College Sports Madness.
In JSU’s 21-13 win over Texas Southern, Jones finished with a team high eight tackles (five solo), three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. With the win the Tigers improve to a 3-4, 3-2 record and a tie for first place in the SWAC Eastern Division.
JSU returns to action Saturday, Oct. 29 when the Tigers host the 4-3, 4-1 Prairie View A&M Panthers at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. For ticket information call the JSU Athletics Ticket Office at 601-979-2420.
