JSU alumna appointed vice president at Berkeley College

Jackson State University alumna Dr. Dallas Reed was appointed Vice President of Student Development and Campus Life at Berkeley College.

pic22296In this role,  Reed will provide vision and leadership for all student success programs including student development, student activities, athletics, residence life and counseling.

“The Office of Student Development and Campus Life serves areas that are crucial to the success of Berkeley College students,” said Dr. Marianne P.Vakalis, Berkeley College Provost. “Dr. Reed has demonstrated her commitment to our students through her guidance and innovation, and we look forward to her continued leadership.”

Reed previously served as Berkeley College Associate Vice President,
Student Development and Campus Life, and Dean, Student Development and
Campus Life, New York. Before coming to Berkeley College in 2011, she
served as Associate Vice President for Student Life at Mississippi Valley
State University in Itta Bena, Miss.

This summer, Reed participated in the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute
for Women in Higher Education Administration. The intensive leadership and
management curriculum is a result of a 35-year partnership between Bryn
Mawr College and Higher Education Resource Services (HERS).

Reed was the recipient of the Berkeley College 2012 Associate of the Year award in Leadership, which recognizes individuals who inspire others to achieve the mission of the College.

Reed holds a Ph.D.  in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University; an MSOL (Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership) from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, N.C.; and a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Public Relations and Management from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa.
