The conference is sponsored by JSU’s Institute of Epidemiology and Health Services Research Center of Excellence in Minority Health and Health Disparities. The conference will provide scientific and innovative information on current issues and best practices to enhance the health of men, said Dr. Marinelle Payton, the center’s director.

“The forum will educate and empower men to take a proactive approach to improve the quality of their lives in mind, body and spirit,” Payton said. “The program will include topics related to chronic disease; screening, prevention and disease diagnosis; spiritual health; and health and health care disparities.”

Though the conference will focus on men’s issues, women and students are encouraged to attend. The event includes health screenings, a free luncheon and musical performances.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Office of Rural Health, Mississippi State Department of Health; the National Institutes of Health/the National Institutes of Health National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
