Jackson State University honors junior Bianca T. Young has been selected as a fellow in the African-American Literature and Culture Institute at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The competitive program selects only a handful of students per year, providing on-campus housing, instructional supplies and a stipend of $2,000 that can be applied to travel and meals during the residency.
The graduate program is from May 31 to June 25 and aims to develop future graduates who want to pursue the field.
Dr. Lawrence T. Potter, former JSU Liberal Arts dean, will serve as a faculty mentor for Young during her fellowship at the institute.
