JSU hosts Phi Theta Kappa honor society

Jackson State University’s Dr. Priscilla Slade, special assistant to the provost for community colleges, addresses top academic two-year college students Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Mississippi/Louisiana Phi Theta Kappa 2014 Fall Regional Conference held on the main campus. Nearly 200 members of the honor society, the equivalent of the Phi Beta Kappa society for four-year schools, attended the two-day event that started Friday. Membership in PTK requires at least a 3.5 grade point average. Slade said JSU hosted the event to attract academically talented transfer students. Headquartered in the Universities Center in Jackson, the society has more than 2 million members in more than 1,250 chapters nationwide.
