The community was invited to join Jackson State University on Dec. 3 for “Holidays Under the Stars,” an event featuring train rides, refreshments and family activities with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
JSU’s Gibbs-Green Plaza became a holiday wonderland on Dec. 3. Children and adults took pictures with Santa and listened to holiday stories told by Mrs. Claus. There also were holiday crafts, caroling, musical guests and a tree lighting ceremony.
“The holiday season is a time for family, and this is JSU’s way of welcoming the community into our family,” said JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers. “We want to create joyful memories.”
All campus departments and student organizations were invited to make an ornament and bring it to be placed on the holiday tree.
My family and I really enjoyed the event. It was a great way to start the Christmas season! My daughters loved taking photos with an African American Santa Claus for the first time, and they were thrilled over the train ride. My husband and I enjoyed watching them have so much fun, while we enjoyed the fantastic musical entertainment. It was a great event for families and the community. We saw many people that we knew there. Thanks, JSU!
I wish that I didn’t have to work that night!!
