Services for Jackson State University alum Ashley Griffin Dancer, 26, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at New Jerusalem Church, 5708 Old Canton Road in Jackson, Miss., 39211.
She passed away Saturday in a vehicle crash.
Dancer, a Belzoni native, enrolled at JSU in fall 2008, studying biology. She was an active member of Tiger P.R.I.D.E. Connection, a student organization that assisted the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment.
Recently married, Dancer was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. She is survived by her husband, Darico Dancer, and other family members.
According to The Clarion-Ledger, the accident occurred on Interstate 20 in Flowers. Ashley Dancer was waiting outside her vehicle on the shoulder of road while her flat tire was being replaced by a good Samaritan, who had pulled over to assist.
Reportedly, an 18-wheeler veered off the roadway, hitting one of the vehicles that struck Ashley Dancer.
A wake will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Zion Rock Baptist Church in Belzoni, Miss. 39038.
