JSU’s Gibbs-Green Plaza will become a holiday wonderland on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the ever-popular Holidays Under the Stars.

The annual event is open to the public and features refreshments and family activities with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. It will also include holiday crafts, caroling, musical guests and a tree-lighting ceremony.

“The holiday season is a time for family, and this is JSU’s way of welcoming the community into our family,” said JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers. “We want to create joyful memories.”

“For this year’s event, we really want to stress the importance of unity. We are inviting local school choirs to celebrate with us and will add an Angel Tree to assist those in our community who are in need,” said Carol J. Woodson, JSU’s Director of the Department of Events.

“We are also incorporating holiday traditions from all over the world. Our community is growing, and we want to show them that we embrace that growth and diversity,” said Woodson.

Children and adults can take pictures with Santa and listen to holiday stories told by Mrs. Claus. The event at the corner of John R. Lynch and Dalton Streets is free.
