Out of more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the country Jackson State University ranks among the Top 5 for graduating minorities with various degrees (see below). Diverse: Issues In Higher Education released the new data in its Aug. 25 edition that highlights 2016 Top 100 Minority Degree Producers.
“Jackson State University’s ranking as one of the nation’s top producers of African-American degrees is very gratifying because it shows the outstanding contribution this institution is making to our state and our nation. Education – especially higher education – has long been recognized as a sure pathway to progress for individuals, for families and for our society as a whole,” said Jackson State University President, Carolyn W. Meyers.
“Our faculty and staff are to be commended for doing an incredible job with not only recruitment, but with retention through a number of support services and programs that help propel our students to achieve their ultimate goal of graduation,” Meyers added.
Additionally, Jackson State ranks 16 among Top 100 Degree Producers for African-Americans receiving bachelor’s degrees when all disciplines are combined and 27th in awarding master’s degrees to African-American students across all disciplines.
