JSU releases updated ticket distribution plan for undergraduate commencement

Online ticket registration will open on Monday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. and will close Thursday, April 21, at 4pm.

Extra Ticket Policy for Graduating Students

We do not anticipate having large numbers of extra tickets. However, in the event that we have extra tickets, graduating students will be given preference to these tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis. Online registration is required for tickets beyond the original fifteen. CLICK HERE FOR ONLINE TICKET REGISTRATION.  Extra tickets requested thru Marketplace can be picked up on the 2nd Floor of the Student Center from 3-6 on Wednesday April 20th and 10-6 Thursday April 21st.  They may also be picked up at Will Call at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday April 22 from 10-3 and Saturday April 23, from 8-11.

Will Call Ticket Requests for Students (Non-Graduating),  Alumni, Community Partners and Friends

If you are unable to pick up tickets during the Designated Days and Times, you may place your request up to two (2) tickets on will call status, and pick up your tickets on Friday or Saturday prior to the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. Will call tickets will be available for pick-up on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm and on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.

This is a ticketed event. Therefore, everyone entering the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on April 23, 2016, must have an official commencement ticket issued by Jackson State University. Access to the stadium will open by noon. All individuals must be seated by 2:30 p.m.  No access will be allowed after 2:45 p.m. No exceptions.

Undergraduate Graduating Students Ticket Distribution

The undergraduate graduating student must pick up commencement tickets in person. JSU Student ID will be required to obtain tickets. Each graduating student will receive 1 ticket and 15 tickets for family and friends.

Non-Graduating Students, Faculty and Staff Ticket Distribution

Non-Graduating Students, Faculty and Staff will receive 2 tickets to the commencement due to limited seating. JSU ID will be required to obtain tickets.

Alumni, Community Partners and Friends Ticket Distribution

Alumni, Community Partners, and Friends will receive 2 tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis. A valid driver’s license or government issued ID will be required to pick up tickets.

Child Entry

Children who are three years old and younger and less than 30 inches tall do not need a ticket for entry. However, the child must sit on an adult’s lap during the ceremony without obstructing the view of any other guests.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Jackson State University prohibits the direct or indirect sale or auction of All-University Commencement tickets. Ticket(s) may not be used for advertising, promotion (including contests, giveaways or sweepstakes) or other trade or commercial purposes.  Students, staff or faculty engaging in such activities, as well as any other activity that disrupts the administration of the ceremony and/or violates the University policies will be subject to JSU disciplinary sanctions, including without limitation the delayed issuance of a degree or diploma.

Guests may not carry the following into the Commencement Venue:

  • any bag larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches
  • hard-sided bags or containers of any size
  • glass, cans, aluminum bottles or thermoses
  • laser pens
  • selfie sticks
  • mono/tripods or other professional camera equipment
  • video cameras or other equipment designed for the sole purpose of video and/or audio recording
  • drones
  • laptop computers
  • firearms, knives or weapons of any kind
  • alcohol
  • illegal drugs or substances
  • brooms, poles, staffs or sticks
  • baseball bats of any size
  • hoverboards
  • television sets, excluding television substitutes such as tablets
  • animals, with the exception of service animals to aid Guests with disabilities
  • air horns or other distracting noisemakers
  • any devices that may interfere with and/or distract any sports or event participant, other Guest, audio or audio/visual telecast or recording of the game or event, or any technology-related service provided in the Stadium
  • helmets (e.g., bicycle helmets, motorcycle helmets or baseball helmets)
  • masks or costumes
  • projectiles (e.g., flying discs or beach balls)
  • aerosol cans (e.g., mace, pepper spray, hairspray or sunscreen)
  • confetti or glitter
  • fireworks
  • visible obscene, indecent or inappropriate clothing

Such items will be prohibited from being brought into the Commencement area. There is no storage area for these items. No exceptions.

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather the undergraduate commencement ceremony will be held at the Athletics and Assembly Center with overflow at the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium.
