The National Association of Veterans Program Administrators (NAVPA) has announced the election of Ashlei Ainsworth, administrative assistant for Jackson State University’s Veterans and Military Student Support Center, to the Board of Directors as region delegate at large.
“I am humbled to have been chosen as a regional delegate at large,” said Ainsworth. “I am particularly excited to work on a national level with other individuals helping to relay the concerns of military students regarding their VA education benefits.”
The Board of Directors works in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Department of Education, and Department of Defense, promoting the improvement of educational opportunities to active duty personnel, veterans and their dependents.
“I am excited about Miss Ainsworth’s recent election to the NAVPA Board of Directors,” said LaToya Reed, Ph.D., director of the Veteran and Military Support Center. “As we continue to support the academic pursuits of our military affiliated students at JSU, her engagement on the BOD will be a great asset to the University and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.”
As a member of the NAVPA Board of Directors, Ainsworth will be in direct contact with federal agencies. She will also have input to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and other national and regional professional organizations concerning NAVPA’s mission.
Founded in 1975, NAVPA is a recognized organization of program administrators who work for universities and colleges, trade schools and apprenticeship programs across the U.S. to ensure student veterans are provided the best service and most accurate access to their GI Bill benefits.
Although the primary mission of NAVPA is education, it also addresses other areas of interest and opportunity for veterans, as well as professional development for membership.
