JSU to celebrate Honors and Awards Convocation

Honors -2-2Jackson State University will hold the 2014 Honors and Awards Convocation at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium.  The convocation is the culminating event of Honors Week, which begins Monday, April 21.

Honors Week activities are for all honor students whether or not they are a member of the W.E.B. Du Bois Honors College. Please see below for a list of events.

Some 1,200 students will be honored during the Honors and Awards Convocation. Honoree students should check in at the lobby tables to pick up their name and accolade cards to be seated by appropriate college and hand to readers. Guests are asked to arrived by 9:50 a.m. to come in and be seated.

All JSU faculty are to dress in their academic regalia, available for rent in the bookstore, for a formal procession. Faculty are requested to arrive by 9:30 a.m. and to assemble outside the building to line up for the procession. CSET faculty should gather outside the left entry doors. Faculty from all other areas are to gather outside the right entry doors.

Classes will be cancelled from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to allow faculty, staff and students the opportunity to attend Honors and Awards Convocation.
