JSU Urban and Regional Planning Program to host open house March 5

As Jackson State University prepares to move some of its programs to a downtown location this fall, the public is invited to get a preview of some of the course offerings.

An open house is scheduled for March 5 at 6 p.m. at 219 S. President St., for Jackson State University’s Urban and Regional Planning Program. The event will provide information about undergraduate and graduate programs and various career opportunities in planning. The emphasis will be on three concentrations: Community Development and Housing, Urban Design and Environment and Land Use. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“This will be especially beneficial to state, county and city workers who work downtown and may be interested in pursuing a higher degree at the new location,” said Dr. Mukesh Kumar, interim program director for Urban and Regional Planning.

Current students, faculty and alumni will provide valuable information about their experiences in planning and how their degrees prepared them.

This fall, a number of programs will move from E.E. Thrash Universities Center on Ridgewood Road to 101 Capitol Centre on Capitol Street in downtown Jackson. The new location also will house JSU’s Institute of Government.
