JSU Welcome Center celebrates National Gardening Month

GardeningDo you remember picking fresh vegetables from the family garden? Can you recall how delighted you were to enjoy a home-grown meal?

If you would like to learn more during National Garden Month, join Jackson State University’s Welcome Center for its seminar “How to Plant and Grow a Vegetable Garden” at noon Tuesday, April 26.

Guest speaker will be Donna H. Beliech, area agent IV for the Mississippi State University Extension Service in Rankin County.

An expert horticulturist, Beliech will teach attendees how to make gardening easy and fun and explain the benefits of family gardening for good health and cost savings.

Heather Wilcox, neighborhood development assistant for JSU’s Center for University-Based Development, is also on the program. She will provide an update on the Blackburn Laboratory Middle School Learning Garden.

The free seminar is open to everyone, with refreshments and door prizes. RSVP at 601-979-0883.
